Atlanta’s WXIA-TV 11 NBC, which runs WeatherNation on a subchannel, puts the weather network above Gannett’s own branded weather subchannels in regards to population totals.

Black Population- The U.S. Census Bureau collects race data in accordance with guidelines provided by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and these data are based on self-identification. The racial categories included in the census questionnaire generally reflect a social definition of race recognized in this country and not an attempt to define race biologically, anthropologically, or genetically.

Gannett TV stations are strategically placed out of reach of CBS Television, NBC Owned Stations, and ABC Owned Stations. There is overlap with FOX Television Stations, however, Gannett has only two small market FOX affiliates (KXVA-TV 15 Abilene TX and KIDY-TV 6 San Angelo TX)

Group Overlap– When two broadcast ownership groups are compared to determine the TV market overlap of one group or the other. All channels, and subchannels, are counted for total duplicated households since competition is measured across total channels. Justice Network Becomes Gannett’s Most Distributed Network Overnight

Although we don’t have the subscriber counts tabulate yet for Justice Network the new upstart networks shoots out of the starting blocks with 31 markets from Gannett. Justice Network has snagged launches with Gannett’s TV stations in Dallas, Washington DC, Atlanta, Houston, and Seattle (among the many).

Unduplicated Households- The households in the market are counted once even if the network is broadcast on TV stations reaching different sections of large markets or the TV station has multiple channels broadcasting in a market.

Broadcasting & Cable – 9/22/2014-Some cited Seattle for a proud news tradition and motivated new owners with enviable scale. NBC affiliate KING, acquired by Gannett in its Belo deal, was the revenue leader in 2013, according to BIA/Kelsey, with nearly 25% of the broadcast spend—two points ahead of KOMO. Fox Television Stations Is Gannett’s Biggest Competitor

The Desk – 9/23/2014– Fox intends to drop, or buy, Tribune-owned Seattle affiliate KCPQ.
If a deal can’t be reached with Tribune, FOX has other options in Seattle. With the exception of CW station KSTW (Channel 11), none of the major Seattle affiliates are owned by a network, making any of them ripe for a possible purchase and affiliate-swap with KCPQ. For more information.
