Forum Communications Operates Two ABC Affiliates in Fargo TV Market

By | Subchannel Report

“In two markets Forum Communications operates two stations as semi-satellites of the primary ABC affiliates of those markets. For instance KBMY-TV 17 in Minot-Bismark-Dickinson ND is the primary ABC affiliate while KMCY-TV 14 in Minot is the semi-satellite airing the same content except for different TV commercials and station IDs.

WDAY-TV 6 ABC, in Fargo-Valley City ND is Forum Communications’ primary ABC affiliate in that market. WDAZ-TV 8 ABC, in Grand Forks ND broadcasts the same programming as WDAY, however, the station has its own newscast, station ids, and TV commercials.”

Footnotes: “Duplicated Households Included: In some instances a network is carried on two stations in a market. The households in the market are counted twice if the network is broadcast on TV stations reaching different sections of large markets. In most cases the network will appear on a cable system on just one channel position, however, households for a TV station are calculated by the total households contained in the market and not just a small section of the total market. In addition, households are counted multiple times for a TV station depending on how many networks are carried on that station.

Median Household Income: Matching the broadcast groups households to the U.S. Census Data. This includes the income of the householder and all other individuals 15 years old and over in the household, whether they are related to the householder or not.”
